Hi Lee, great post and I appreciate the sentiment and all the links. I talk to all kinds of people as a SCORE counselor, some of whom are in the same position as this person.
Like you, I recommend that people write a business plan, 3-4 pages. There's something very good that happens when ideas get put on paper.
I also recommend reading some books and talking to other entrepreneurs. If they are not sure where to meet other entrepreneurs I suggest looking at networking events, a google search or going to their local college or university and asking.
The last thing I tell them is that they will learn more about business and themselves by embarking on 'the road less traveled' than they will in years of working for someone else. Accumulating experience makes us a well-rounded person and a better entrepreneur or employee if we decide to go to work for someone else.
The other big lesson that we learn is when to ask for help. This country was founded by entrepreneurs and we will continue to go based on our willingness to believe in ourselves and taking risk. Thanks again, Deb
